Gametogenic cycle of Mesodesma donacium in Camaná, Arequipa, Peru, March 1973 to February 1974

N: Number of clams analyzed. Gonad stage: Males and females were classified in four gonad stages: Inmature and early mature (%N); mean and total maturity (%N); partial and total spawning (%N); reversion (%N). Classification was made after histological examination of Bouin-preserved gonad samples. Tissue embedded in paraplast wax after dehydration, sectioned at 7 µm and stained with hematoxylin-eosin for examination. Data points extracted from figure 17 using Data Thief III software.
