Soil water samples for laboratory analyses (nutrient and ion concentrations, stable water isotopes, Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) fluorescence, and Dissolved Organic Carbon/Total Dissolved N (DOC/TDN) concentrations) were collected on July 13, 27, and August 4 2016 from lysimeters installed to 40 cm depth in each of the experimental sites of ITEX plots 5, 6, and 7 at the Cape Bounty Arctic Watershed Observatory. Each plot consists of four experimental treatments: a control, snow augmented, warmed (open top chamber), and snow augmented and warmed. At each site, soil moisture, electrical conductivity, and temperature is measured at 5 cm depth using a Decagon 5TE sensors logged with a EM50 datalogger, and temperature was also measured at 60 cm (or maximum thaw depth at the time of installation; 50-60 cm) using a Hobo 4 channel logger. Water temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity of soil water samples was measured in a field laboratory setting within three hours. Samples were then filtered and stored in coolers until transport to Kingston, Ontario.
