The Origins of Agriculture and Sedentary Communities in Northeast China

The goal of the research was to address the development of sedentism and agriculture in the Fuxin (阜新) area of western Liaoning Province, and more broadly in northeast China. During the spring of 2012 and 2013 we conducted two seasons of systematic archaeological regional survey. Altogether we surveyed an area of 104.46 km2, in which we identified and collected artifacts at 1,152 locations. During the spring of 2015 we conducted a series of small-scale excavations at two sites discovered by our survey, one early Neolithic and the other pre-Neolithic.
