Beaufort Seabed Geohazard Legacy Data Synthesis (BSGLDS) Catalogues

The BSGLDS catalogues describe Canadian Beaufort Sea geophysical, geological and geotechnical information useful in identifying seabed geohazards. The catalogues are of two types: records in the ASTIS subset database Hydrocarbon Impacts that describe publications (mostly industry reports), and a Microsoft Excel workbook that describes items in the O'Connor Associates collection in the Atlantic Geoscience Centre Record Storage Room at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. The reports in the Hydrocarbon Impacts database are divided into two groups: those that fall within a T-shaped "Area of Interest" that includes the outer shelf and upper slope of the Canadian Beaufort Sea in water depths of 50 to 1500 m, but also includes a corridor to 25 m in the area of ConocoPhillips Canada's Amauligak field and the Kugmallit Channel; and those that fall within the remainder of the Canadian Beaufort Sea outside this "Area of Interest". As of July 2016 there are 194 reports in the former group and 168 in the latter. The O'Connor collection is contained in 52 filing cabinet drawers and consists of paper reports, seismic data (paper rolls), bathymetry data (paper rolls), side-scan sonar data (on "wet paper" which is generally folded but sometimes rolled), magnetic tapes, and many file folders or page-size envelopes of paper material. As of July 2016 the Excel workbook describing the O'Connor collection lists 1114 items: 286 reports and 828 datasets. 48 reports and 125 datasets are identified as being about the "Area of Interest", and 77 reports and 359 datasets are identified as being about the remainder of the Canadian Beaufort Sea. The BSGLDS catalogues are available from the Report Group menu of the Hydrocarbon Impacts database at
