Global data on the incidence of surgical site infection after appendectomy (2000-2017)

Data were provided by a systematic search of EMBASE, Medline, and Web of Knwoledge. This note provides data on study characteristics (year of publication, country of the study, WHO region, level of income of the country, timing of data collection, data sources, sampling method) and participants characteristics (period of inclusion, population age group, surgical procedure, sample size) for surgical site infection after appendectomy. These data from 226 studies with 729,434 surgical procedures can help to estimate the incidence of surgical site infection after appendectomy. Subgroup comparisons can be done according to country level of income, WHO regions, age group of the population, and surgical procedure.
