Inorganic and organic hydrochemistry of lakes and ponds in continuous permafrost landscapes in the western Canadian Arctic

DOI

Between 2006 and 2015 inorganic and organic hydrochemical parameters and stable water isotope characteristics were measured in lakes and ponds in continuous permafrost landscapes in the western Canadian Arctic. The dataset contains 66 individual samples from 47 distinct water bodies.Lakes and ponds were sampled in an area covering the following geographical boundaries:North: from 68.8° to 69.7°West: from -141.0° to -138.5°Water bodies are all located in the zone of continuous permafrost. The studied water bodies are located on the mainland coast of the Yukon, Canada and on Herschel Island – Qikiqtaruk off the Yukon coast.Hydrochemical data comprises:• basic parameters such as pH and electrical conductivity• major anions• major cations• dissolved organic carbon concentration• stable water isotopes
