Total magnetic intensity data from the Central Main Ethiopian Rift collected between the years 2014 and 2018

DOI

Ground based total magnetic intensity data were collected in the Ziway-Shala Lakes basin, Central Main Ethiopian rift, over an area bounded by 7000'N-8030'N and 38000'E-39030'E. The total number of these data points is 855 and was collected between the years 2014 and 2018 using Proton magnetometer. About 592 data points were collected by Dr Abera Alemu in connection with the thesis works of his MSc students (Kebede, 2014) (Berhane, 2015) and (Kelemework, 2016) and 263 are primary data collected by Hailemichael Kebede and his advisor for his PhD research work. The data set was collected for the objective of mapping the geological nature and geological structures of the area considered. This data set was collected at random points along gravel and asphalt roads with an approximate station separation of 2 to 5 km. It is here recommended to consider compilation of more refined data either ground based or airborne to obtain better results pertaining to the cited objectives.
